Hi All-
I hope everyone is surviving and keeping warm in this latest round of wintery weather that Mother Nature blessed us with.
Population
88 Cats
17 Kittens
9 Dogs
9 Fosters
123 Total
Ins
There have been 21 Intakes for Jan and 21 for the Year. Last Friday 2 dogs entered foster care, but they will never come to Safe Harbor. Ma Barker is a Shar Pei/ Hound mix and her pup, Sonny is listed as a Hound. Their foster family will also be responsible for adopting them out.
Outs
There have been 16 Adoptions for Jan and 16 for the Year. On Sat Mai Tai, longhaired orange kitten was adopted. Then Sunday, Marble, calico kitten went to her new home. I am also happy to report that Titus & Taisho, the cats we were keeping for the homeless family went back to their family on Sunday.
Please join me in saying, Congratulations! To Lisa Mirly and family on the adoption of their new bouncing baby boy, Colonel!! He is 85 lbs of pure puppy dog!!! I believe his new name will be Fudge. Suckers! : ) lol
Events
The next PAD (Petco Adoption Day) is scheduled for Feb 14th. I have Kim Leslie & Sueann Powell (?) along with Roberta Beach scheduled to attend. The is still room in case anyone is interested in going. If you happen to be out and about that day be sure to stop by Petco in the afternoon to meet Kim, Sueann, and Roberta and to see how it is done.
We still have a lot of open dates for PAD if anyone is interested in hosting the event. The sign-up sheet is posted on the office door in the house at SH. Or you can email or call to be sign-up, too.
Last week I mentioned Sundog, our sister sanctuary, will be merging with Safe Harbor. We are planning to build a new building and hope to have it up and going by June 1st. In order to do this we need money, lots of it, along with building materials, and services (electrical, plumbing, excavating, etc).
Diane Taylor has put together a beautiful letter for us to send out to everyone we know to collect donations for this BIG and exciting project. The letter is being revised and as soon as I get the final draft I will forward it on to everyone.
This is Safe Harbor's 4th year of operations and we are already expanding!!! Woo Hoo!
Pet of the Week
Scarlett the yellow lab should have been featured in last Sunday's paper. This week the honor goes to Penny, longhaired orange tabby on Side 2.
Who will be our next Pet of the Week? Any suggestions? I am not getting much response for this special feature. Linda & Kate Seabaugh were the only ones who responded last week. (My thanks to you both!) Be sure to let me know by Tuesday who you want to see featured for the next Pet of the Week. If I don't hear from anyone by then, I will go Kate's suggestion of Tom Wilson. (If he doesn't get adopted before then.)
Staffing
I haven't heard from Chad & Stacey or Meagan, yet. I am hoping to see Ed & Bailey for sure. It should be an interesting day if it stays cold and this stuff doesn't get a chance to melt off. Remember the fun we all had last year crawling up the drive on our hands and knees!!! Alice & Kelly have been tending the animals all week in this mess. I am sure they are worn out and frost bit.
Well that's about all I have for now. I am going to enjoy my rare evening home. Hope everyone has a great week and keep warm.
